Online delivery service foodpanda has partnered with Penang Halal International, a subsidiary of Penang Development Corporation, to launch a Ramadan e-bazaar in the state. Through the campaign, foodpanda wants to ensure Penang citizens can still order in their Ramadan items while helping Halal-compliant businesses reach their customers. foodpanda also wants to encourage Penang citizens to stay home and stay safe during this period. This initiative follows the extension of the Movement Control Order in Malaysia until the end of April.

The Ramadan e-bazaar partnership will go live early Ramadan, according to a press release. Customers can find participating businesses by selecting the dedicated swimlane on the platform to order from a variety of local vendors. foodpanda has also reached out to halal compliant businesses to come on board as vendors for its e-bazaar.A+M has reached out for additional information.

Chow Kon Yeow, chief minister of Penang, said it also hopes to also encourage more of the Halal business community to fully embrace the future of business in a technology-driven world. The e-bazaar is in line with Penang Halal International’s “Penang Next Normal Strategy”, which aims to strengthen the ecosystem, coordinate the ecosystem to the changes in the 21st century, and build resilience to any crisis in the future, according to The Star.

E-HAILING delivery service provider, foodpanda has collaborated with the Penang Halal International to launch Ramadan E-Bazaar in the state to enable Penangites to order their favourite food during the fasting month while helping halal-compliant businesses reach their customers.

Penang Halal International is a subsidiary of a state-owned entity, Penang Development Corporation.

Penang Halal International chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the collaboration aimed at enabling businesses to continue serving the consumers via digital solution.

“The partnership with an established and experienced food delivery company such as foodpanda will further promote Penang Halal International’s mission in inculcating a halal and toyyiban (hygiene) lifestyle among the business community,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, foodpanda Malaysia managing director Sayantan Das said through this partnership, the company was grateful to be able to work with the Penang Halal International to extend a hand and lighten the burden of halal-compliant businesses.

WITH the country still under the movement control order (MCO) and the Ramadan about to begin in a week’s time, the Penang Halal International (PHI) has partnered with foodpanda for the Ramadan traders to sell their food through Ramadan E-Bazaar.

State Domestic and International Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said the initiative between PHI, which is a subsidiary of Penang Development Corporation, and foodpanda would benefit the traders during the fasting month.

“During the MCO, I believe that the Ramadan E-Bazaar will provide an economic opportunity to all our traders and it will be implemented following the guidelines from the National Security Council,” Abdul Halim said after handing over face masks, gloves and hand sanitisers to foodpanda representatives at Komtar today.
